The Anamalai tiger reserve area

The total extent of the notified protected area is 958.59 sq. km. Within this landscape, the ecologically significant regions of Karianshola, Grass Hills, and Manjampatti have been accorded the highest level of protection and declared as National Parks. Together, these areas form the Indira Gandhi National Park, covering an extent of 108 sq. km. These national park areas represent some of the most pristine and undisturbed ecosystems within the Anamalai landscape, safeguarding critical habitats, unique shola–grassland systems, and rich biodiversity of the Western Ghats.

Best time to visit

The ideal time to visit Anamalai Tiger Reserve is from November to March for pleasant weather and peak wildlife sightings. Located near Pollachi and Coimbatore, it is an easily accessible nature retreat.
